Zella Rose Brayton
Zella Rose Brayton, age 86 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Medicalodge of Butler. She was born June 19, 1931 to George Franklin and Pearl Craft Mc- Guire in Bates County, Missouri. Zella, one of ten children, was a lifelong resident of Bates County. She atteneded Bethel Elementary School and Butler High School. On June 16, 1948 she was united in marriage to Lindsey Brayton and they established a dairy farm in the rural community of Virginia, Missouri. Her employment included Bass Busters, J.C. Penney and later at Koehn’s Bakery until her husband’s Parkinson’s Disease required her care. Zella was a member of the Virginia United Methodist Church. She currently attended the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. Zella enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. A passion that Zella and Lindsey shared was raising and showing their prize winning Guernsey dairy cattle. Most of all, Zella enjoyed being with her large family, consisting of three sisters, six brothers, many nephews and nieces, many more great-nephews and great-nieces and friends too numerous to mention. Zella is survived by her sister, Marjorie Popplewell of Butler, Missouri; and one brother, Buford McGuire and wife Verla of Butler, Missouri; and nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lindsey Brayton; five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Pastor Eldon Allen officiating.
