Wanda Lee Hansen
Wanda Lee Hansen, age 87 of Shawnee, Kansas died Thursday, January 15, 2020 at the Shawnee Gardens Healthcare and Rehab in Shawnee. She was born April 16, 1932 in Benton County, Missouri to Durward B. Vannatta and Jennie A. White.
Wanda grew up in Roseland, Missouri and graduated from high school in Osceola, Missouri. She worked as an executive secretary for Sears and Roebuck and then as a secretary for State Farm Insurance retiring in 1998. She enjoyed a long, and accomplished career in Corporate America. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Overland Park, Kansas for many years. Wanda was a Christian and reflected God’s love into other peoples’ lives.
Wanda was a sweet spirited woman and kind to everyone. She found great joy in being an Aunt and Great-Aunt. She never missed a birthday, graduation, pageant, wedding, birth, sporting event or special moment. In her later years, she treasured visits from her greatnephews (Jared, Jackson, Joshua, Jenson) and one great-niece (Jennings) who drew her pictures to display around her room at Shawnee Gardens. Wanda’s favorite vacation spot was Hawaii, and she had the pleasure of making a few trips there to enjoy its beauty (and pineapple). She also traveled to many other places around the country with her family. Wanda’s nephews and niece say she was a part of every milestone in their lives, and never hesitated to show her love towards them. Our beloved Sister, Aunt, Friend, and Mentor will be greatly missed, but has left us with wonderful memories.
Wanda is survived by a brother, John M, Vannatta and wife Eileen of Shawnee, Kansas; three nephews, John M. Vannatta Jr. of Shawnee, Kansas, Jeffrey D. Vannatta of Gardner, Kansas, Jason D. Vannatta of Lenexa, Kansas; and one niece Jennifer I. Fisher and husband J.C. of Shawnee, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents.
