Robert Darin Long
Robert Darin Long, age 54 of Butler, Missouri died Monday, April 27, 2020 at Kindred Hospital Northland in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born November 11, 1965 to Ernest Eugene and Joyce Corene Long York in Butler.
Darin lived his entire life in Butler, graduating from Butler High School in 1984. He furthered his education at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. In his early years, Darin worked at the drive in movie theatre in Butler. He also read meters for REA in Butler and was a disc jockey in Springfield for the school’s radio station. Darin was a talented musician--he even sang with a band in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for a time and sang at many weddings. As a child, he attended the Butler Church of the Nazarene.
Darin was friendly, fun, famous and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed history, watching movies, following the Chiefs and Royals and trying his knowledge at Jeopardy. He loved playing with his nephews and nieces and had nicknames for all of them. Darin also like swimming, going to Worlds of Fun and spending time with his friends.
Darin is survived by his parents, Ernie and Joyce York of Butler, Missouri; two brothers, Ernest Eugene York Jr. and wife Cinde of Goodman, Missouri and Bobby Wayne York and wife Melonie of Carthage, Missouri; two sisters, Jerlyn Hector and friend Tim Simms of Adrian, Missouri and Teresa Robinson of Seneca, Missouri; and uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. * * *
