Lillian Lorene Evans
Lillian Lorene Evans Boyd, age 93 of Butler, Missouri died January 1, 2020 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. She was born October 22, 1926 to Elmer Floyd and Jewell Wingo Blankenship in Rockville, Missouri.
Lorene, one of five children, grew up in Pleasant Gap, Missouri where she attended school. On September 22, 1943 she was united in marriage to Buford Evans and to this union two children were born. In her early years, she worked as a waitress and also as a checker at the grocery store. Lorene later worked at the Lens Factory for 19 years. In 1971 Buford died and 10 years later she married Junior Boyd in August of 1981. She was an earlier member of the Butler First Christian Church, and most recently attended the Friendship Full Gospel Church.
Lorene enjoyed fishing, gardening, painting, embroidery, cooking for family dinners . . . and sewing--she made Reda’s wedding dress and all the attendants’ dresses. Her grandchildren can remember her making stuffed bears for them. She loved country music and dancing the two step.
Lorene is survived by her son, Bobby Lee Evans and wife Lisa of Butler, Missouri; one daughter, Reda Ann Cumpton of Adrian, Missouri; stepson, Brian Boyd and wife Gayla of Butler, Missouri; stepdaughter, Cindy Rodriguez and husband Rod of Overland Park, Kansas; one sister, Geraldine Carney and husband William of Topeka, Kansas; a brother-in-law, Eddie Wilcox of Paola, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Buford C. Evans; second husband, Junior G. Boyd; brother, Willard Dean Blankenship; granddaughter, Jessica Evans; two sisters, Darlene Kash Stover and Mildred Wilcox; a son-in-law, Wayman Cumpton; and two nephews Ronnie Kash and Dennis Kash.
