Howard was born September 27, 1937 near Prairie City, Missouri, son of Albert Henry and Lena Marie (Ramsey) Fleischer. He attended school in Prairie City and worked on his family’s farm and later in carpentry with the Linard brothers in Butler. Howard was united in marriage to Graca Fern Berry on June 3, 1960 at the First Baptist Church in Butler. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960-62 at Ft. Benning, Georgia. After his service, Howard returned to Butler and worked at Food Town for approximately 20 years through its change of ownership to Price Chopper. He later worked at the Butler Country Club as a groundskeeper, and then finished his career at Thorco in Butler, retiring at the age of 68. Howard will particularly be remembered for his ability to fix things – in what family and friends lovingly called “Howard’s Fix-It Shop,” he repaired lamps, vacuum cleaners, tools, sharpened lawnmower blades, and completed other repairs for family and friends. He created a great many items for his family to include casserole holders, shelves, and even a bassinet for his grandsons, whom he greatly enjoyed spending time with. Howard took great pride in his home and maintaining his lawn. Howard was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters Anna Nadine (Fleischer) Allison, Wilma Jean (Fleischer) Bledsoe, and Gayla (Fleischer) Link. He is survived by his wife Graca of the home; daughters Gayle Fleischer of Butler, Vicky (Fleischer) Cameron and husband Dale of Archie, and Judy (Fleischer) Moore of Kansas City, Missouri; and two grandsons, Kyle and Kevin Cameron of Archie.
