Dorothy Pauline Black
Dorothy Pauline Black, age 97 of Sweet Springs, Missouri formerly of Kansas City, Missouri died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs. She was born November 30, 1921 to Paul Lewis and Lola Graham Andrews Radford in Ballard, Missouri.
Dorothy, one of two daughters, grew up in Bates County, Missouri. On November 30, 1941 she was united in marriage to George Kenneth Black Jr. and to this union a daughter was born. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1945. Dorothy was mostly a homemaker, but she did work at Pratt and Whitney on the airplane engine assembly line during World War II. She often talked about being in the engine test room. In 2002 Dorothy moved to Sweet Springs.
Dorothy enjoyed flowers, gardening, swimming, camping and above all--fishing. She loved the water and going swimming in the lake.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Diane Steinkuhler and husband Chuck of Sweet Springs, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Etha Pearl Black Pieratt of Butler, Missouri; two grandchildren, Troy D. Steinkuhler and wife Stacey and Clay H. Steinkuhler; three great-grandchildren, Cooper, Karsyn and Taylor; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Kenneth Black Jr; and a sister, Elinor Russell.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2019 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri with Alan Black officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler.
