Dorothy Belle Tillman
Dorothy Belle Tillman, 102 years old of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Carroll House in Carrollton, Missouri. She was the of Thomas and Bertha (Smith) Nelson, born on December 28, 1915. In her younger years, she worked downtown in Kansas City, Missouri at a local drugstore for a short period of time; as well as helping her brothers on the family farm. She was married to Lawrence Dykman who passed away unexpectedly after an accident a few months after their marriage. She later married John W. Tillman and they enjoyed a wonderful life together. Dorothy loved being a farmer’s wife and worked alongside John in their farming operation. She looked forward to playing cards, and sewing, but she especially liked get-togethers where she could visit with her family and friends. Dorothy was known for her lovely personality and willingness to help others, no matter the need. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Carrollton, Missouri, Order of the Eastern Star, the Tarara Club, and the Red Hat Mamas. Dorothy is survived by three nieces; several great-nieces; and great- nephews; other family members; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and four brothers: Bloice, Edwin, Darwin, and Frankie. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North 65 Highway, Carrollton, Missouri. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri, with Reverend Cheryl Sanders officiating.
