Alice Rebecca Scheilz
Alice Rebecca Scheilz, age 80 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Butler Center in Butler, Missouri. She was born April 7, 1938 to Edwin Milton and Leota Edith Banghart Fox at her grandma Banghart’s house in Nevada, Missouri.
Alice, also known as Alice Rebecca Alfonzo Doodle Bug, was one of four children. She lived east of Milo, Missouri until almost seven years old when her family moved to the home place east of Rich Hill, Missouri. Alice enjoyed telling people she lived in one house and went to five different schools. She graduated from Rich Hill High School in 1956. On April 7, 1957 she was united in marriage to James Marshall Scheilz Jr. and to this union three sons were born. Alice went to Kansas City and worked at Vet Products. Some teased her that she couldn’t stand to leave the farm, so she went to work where they made veterinary products. Alice later moved to Butler and began work for Dr. Howard Rush’s dental practice until he moved his practice to Wichita, Kansas. She then babysat with a lot of Butler children. In 1983 she started working at the Butler Public Library. Alice loved her Lord and Savior and served him many years. She cherished her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alice was also close to her many friends. She was a member of the Church of God in Butler.
Alice enjoyed reading and her “book club.” She loved her flower and vegetable gardens and feeding and watching birds--especially humming birds. Her other enjoyments included playing the piano and organ.
Alice is survived by her husband James Scheilz Jr. of Butler, Missouri; three sons, Stanley Ray Scheilz Sr. and wife Diane of Jenks, Oklahoma, Steven Duane Scheilz and wife Sherry and Douglas Eugene Scheilz all of Butler, Missouri; one sister, Jessie Edith Schapeler of Appleton City, Missouri; sister-inlaw, Mickey Scheilz of Tonganoxie, Kansas; six grandchildren, Christie and husband Robert, Stanley Jr., Erica, Chad, Seth and wife Sarah and Shannon; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Ariana and Jackson; one stepgrandson, Tyler; and nephews and nieces--great and greatgreat. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Edwin Denzil Fox; and one sister, Betty Alice Fox.
