Minnie Nadine & Sallie Marie

To begin this story, I must share how I came to become familiar with this family and these two young women. I can promise you, the only reason I know all this information is because of one woman’s passionate obsession with preserving her family history.

In 2009, almost 10 years ago, I was contacted by a woman named Cynthia Henry of Manteca, California. Cynthia made in inquiry about a photograph of her grandmother Sallie and two girlfriends, circa 1914, supposedly taken at a ‘state’ fair. She knew the girls lived in Adrian, and once, as a child she had made a visit back to the Midwest so she even had a few personal memories. Cynthia said she came for a visit in 1952 when she was 11 years old.
